Car polishing is a process that enhances the gloss and shine of your vehicle’s paint by removing minor imperfections such as swirl marks and light scratches. It creates a smooth, reflective surface, making your car look like new. At Wakss Detailing, we offer both single-stage and multi-stage paint correction to achieve a flawless, mirror-like finish.

Polishing works by using mild abrasives in liquid form to level the clear coat—the topmost layer of your car’s paint. This removes light defects and enhances the paint’s depth and clarity. It can be done manually or with a machine polisher. After polishing, a protective layer such as wax, sealant, or ceramic coating is applied to preserve the finish.

Polishing is effective in removing light surface scratches and swirl marks that only affect the clear coat.

However, deeper scratches that penetrate beyond the clear coat into the base paint (often appearing white) require more advanced techniques such as Compounding: A more abrasive process to remove deeper clear coat damage, often followed by polishing to refine the finish. Wet Sanding: A more intensive method for severe damage, typically followed by compounding and polishing to restore the paint’s smoothness and shine.
